TalkTalk FTTC line predicament

[link to this post]

Morning all, was hoping to pick your brains if thats ok?

I've just ordered my gf the TTB FTTC package and wondered if anyone else here uses it and how "locked down" the router they send out is?

Basically, she has 3 very unruly disrespectful teens and the only way to get them to do what they're asked is to remove the internet cable until they listen, which isn't great if just the 1 child doesn't listen but the other 2 have so not fair on them or us.

My plan was to fit an access point upstairs, have a VLAN for the gf (phone, TV & laptop) and have that VLAN always on. Then the 3 kids have their own unique VLAN each (1-3 for example) and apply time based policys so its on between say 6am - 9pm for younger 2 and midnight for the 17 year old. We can also disable whichever kids being naughtys VLAN manually in between these times if needs be.

Would I be ok to apply these using say an access point or maybe a watchguard for example behind the supplied TTB box?

Any suggestions welcome. Probably an easier way to do this too lol

Thanks.

That sounds like a good plan - At the basics, you can simply just do Mac Address filtering in the TalkTalk hub if you want to cut a device off (providing you can distinguish using the device names).
Homesafe also comes in pretty handy.
