What Broadband

For years, I used to be with BT a hangover from landline days. Now I have moved and trying to understand what broadband would be best for me.

I am going to use freeview tv.
I do not need a landline phone.
I have a mobile and a laptop.

There is a BT landline here and a Sky sat dish.

I notice there are companies that offer no landline deals. EE is one.

Even though there is a landline here is it a good move to go with a no landline deal?

If you put in just the postcode and Captcha, it will present a list of addresses there and you can work through the property and neighbours.

You've never actually been able to send a link to the address check. Only to the main page and tell folks to follow the address check link from there.

Try clicking on te link in the post ... works for me.

I stand corrected. They must've changed that little wrinkle.

SO, you can get FTTC at 44 Mbps, or go full fibre at up to 1000Mbps.

The latter would be my chouce, just chose a suitable level for your needs.

I would certainly by preference go with a supplier that delivers FTTP even if I only wanted 40Mbps speeds as the stability would be far better and give easy later route to upgrades. The only issue is that there are fewer ISPs offering FTTP so a preferred provider may not be available except via FTTC.

Thank you. I will look up both. As you may have realised, I am not a gamer, so super fast isn't a requirement.

Is there a decent 4G signal where you are ? Could you not go the mobile data route ?

You may not need superfast speeds, however, everything is moving to Full Fibre - or FTTP. Yes, you will need a fibre running in but that is not difficult.

More ISPs that offer FTTP packages have various ones from 80 up to 1000 Mbps and often, with the lower packages, they can be cheaper than FTTC where you will have line rental which may be a spearate item or included in te package.

To be blunt - just go for FTTP and ignore FTTC.

It also says they have moved house... (new house hasn't got a landline, BT was in use at old house).

I read it as though there IS a landline at the new house. But the OP does not need one.

If there is a dial-tone then try 17070 Option 2. But I agree with the others, Get FTTP if possible. Just the lowest speed!

All a bit confusing as to what is the old address and what is the new address...

Thinking back, I now remember writing a post that said "as nothing is there Openreach will need to install something, so go for full fibre now" and then went and checked teh OPs original post. Then went and editted mine as the OP suggested something was there!

We don't need very fast speeds so have 100/20 FTTP, much more reliable (so far) than FTTC.
