Passed over for FTTP because I am able to receive G.Fast 330

[link to this post]

Hi,

I currently receive G.Fast 330/50. FTTP is available to order at all addresses, surrounding mine that DO NOT reach the same G.Fast speeds, although FTTP is NOT available to order at my address and indeed every address that, according to the BT Wholesale checker, are able to reach the maximum speeds available through G.Fast. Just to be clear FTTP on demand at 1000/220 is available at my address and all of the addresses in question, I assume that means we are connected to the PON.

My question is: Does Openreach have a policy that would entail skipping the households that can receive the MAX G.Fast speeds?

No, you are incorrect there. FTTPoD being available means, if ordered, you will pay to have fibre provided from the nearest aggregation node.

No I do not believe so.

(edit for typo, thanks Bob)

Well, FTTPoD is normally offered at 330/50, so if it's showing as 1000/220, then yes the node serving the property is live, just not the CBT.

Hi,

Yes, I am not connected to the CBT. My address is one of 7 terraced houses, that is served by a chamber just outside our houses. Openreach have not installed a CBT within the chamber.

I am really trying to understand why we have been passed over. Certainly it's not the cost, as the ducting is clear of any blockages. and I watched the contractors dig up a walkway across the street to install ducting for a group of flats which are on the same Fibre cable path that serves our houses.

Most of the properties that are able to order FTTP are served by Overhead connections. I have noticed that any properties, that have a CBT installed on their poles and have G.Fast with a handback threshold of 330, are not able to order Full Fibre, but... if it's merely 5 Mbits below, then WBC FTTP is offered.

Anyway, I am just looking for any expert feedback as to why I'm not able to order FTTP, other than the obvious that I am not connected to a CBT.

Thank you for the responses, so far

Its definitely not the case that if GFast is available they skip FTTP.

Take my place for example....

What does the "See full fibre providers" link say? It might not be BT Wholesale, Sky or TalkTalk or any ISPs supplied by those.

Connections: OnePlus 8 Pro on Three 4+ (LTE)/5G and at home Three Mobile, with (Three)ZTE MF286D router giving about 113/20Mbps.

Not sure this is relevant to you, but this is how it works where I live.
BDUK funded cabinet upgrade to FTTC, then a couple of years later the houses (like mine) which where just beyond 'superfast' range had FTTP laid on. The fibre runs past all those houses which have 'superfast', but according to the BT checker they can't order FTTP!

BT checker or BT Wholesale checker? They could easily give different results.

Sorry, I just read through the posts and replied to last one instead of going back to OP.
