Fritz!box 3490 bridge mode?

[link to this post]

Anybody know if it's possible to configure an old Fritz!Box 3490 into bridge mode? Doesn't look hopeful from the management GUI, but sometimes these things can be contrived if you know how, which I don't. It's running Fritz!OS 07.30.

Had a quick google and found this:

Log onto Fritz!box UI and go to the Top Right corner and enable the Advanced View option.

Then go to INTERNET > DSL Information and set Annex to B, if based in UK and Using VDSL (FTTC) or Annex A if you are using ADSL and ADSL+ (not sure if really needed)

Then go to INTERNET > ACCOUNT INFORMATION and select
· Connect to DSL Line (check box)
· Account information (No)
· Connection Settings > Change Connection Settings
o VLAN ID (101) for most UK internet providers ( probably worth checking )
o Encapsulation > Routed Bridge Encapsulation and check the obtain the IP address automatically check box

Then Select PPPoE Passthrough and check the ‘Connected Devices are also allowed to their own Internet connection’ box.

Hope that helps

Andrew,

Yes, thanks for this. I found this page too (or a copy of it), but the spell appears to be out of date. The 07.30 version of the firmware is pretty new (installed automatically by Zen on 18/11/21), and quite a lot changed with it. Eg at step 2 there's (no longer?) the Annex A/B option. The author does indicate that might not be necessary, but at step 3 there isn't a connect to DSL line check box. And so on.

Right now the 3490 is still my main router, so it's not so easy to experiment, but I hope to be replacing it early in the new year. I'll play around then, see what I can make work.

I found this:
https://en.avm.de/service/knowledge-base/dok/FRITZ-B...

I seem to recall somebody found with the 7530 that you need to put bad/made-up PPPoE logon details into the Fritz so that it can't actually connect to the ISP, so that the other router 'passing through' can. May be worth trying the same thing.

Ah... here it is:
https://forums.thinkbroadband.com/zen/t/4631320-re-f...

I reckon you would still need the VLAN ID 101 though. You might need to deselect Zen as the provider and select 'other internet provider' (or similar) to reveal the extra settings. I think my 7530 was like that when it was running Fritz+Zen firmware (now it has OpenWRT on it).
