BT/Enjoy Field Sales / Installers

[link to this post]

Curious one for you all this evening.

Had my 90 year old, rather tech savy Grandfather on the phone today saying two chaps from 'Enjoy' were working on behalf of BT to install a new Halo Router or some effect that he had negotiated with the Sales Rep in return for his contract renewal.

The chaps apparently, and looking at the Ring Camera footage didn't want to provide any ID at the door, nor came in a van etc. He let them in and install the router because of the text message and email BT had sent him just before the visit (i did panic at the thought of some clever social engineering element here).

They install the router and update the WIFI on his Mac and Ipad for him. One of them attempted to upsell him BT Mobile, but he quite firmly pushed back with his O2 contract etc.

My question is, are these Enjoy reps normal? I believed BT utilised openreach or sent the routers in the post to do. these installs? I rang up the BT Call Centre in Falkirk to try and understand if these chaps were legit with no ID, but they assured me they were.

I know they use Qube ….. I expect there are others. The no ID is dreadful, I would be ringing up and creating one hell of a stink about it.

BT sub out to Enjoy Technology as well as Qube.

In the race to the bottom, I have to mention the Tech Guy from Currys that turned up at my in laws.... On the bus.

Anyone from a reputable company trying to enter a residential or business property should be able to show identification if requested to do so.

I think that’s great! Someone making the effort to reduce the number of single-occupant cars on the road is a good thing. Even if it’s just opportunistic it can make a big difference to congestion.
