Good news

I just wanted to share some good news. I have a new router, a FritzBox 7530, which seems to have fixed nearly all the problems I've been having for ages. It's now 15 days since there was a resync, which is unprecedented - previously my (FTTC) line was dropping out 4,5,6 times a day. I'm synced at 35M download (780m from the cab), and I've never had more than 30M out of it before, and then only for a few days. DLM has dropped my SNRM to 3dB, and has not capped the line, both of which I've also never seen before.

So at the moment I don't care about not having FTTP. I only wanted it in the hopes that it would improve the reliability. 35M is sufficient for 95% of what I do. There are a few times a month I could do with a faster upload speed than 7M, but even that's an excuse to go make another cup of coffee.

I have a 7530 to plug in but its going to replace another Fritz.

It was a FritzBox 3490 (I'm with Zen). When I switched to Zen in 2019 and they supplied the 3490, initially it seemed good (though not as good as the 7530). But it seems to have developed some fault since.

I am a long time F!B user having owned a 7390; 7490; 7590 and now a 4060AX. The 4060AX is on a 350/50 FTTP connection (which is £10/month cheaper than my old FTTC connection as I am no longer paying a monthly wires charge).

Up until a week or so ago, the 7590 was suffering from wifi network issues which AVM admitted was down to their firmware. There was a conflict between the 2.4 and 5GHz bands and the latter was frequently changing channel due to false radar detection alerts. The latest firmware has resolved the problem.

The 4060AX offers me increased wifi range. Coupled with a 3000 Repeater, I get 350/50 speeds in most areas of my home. I now need to decide whether to sell my 7590 or keep it as a backup?

PS If you are looking to buy anything Fritz, then I can recommend Amazon.de. My 4060 arrived in 36 hours from ordering with all taxes paid and it was £50 cheaper than most other European suppliers.

Did that come with a UK plug and importantly an interface in English? There appears to be quite a few German language versions on Amazon. Whilst I have some knowledge of German I doubt it's up to translating an interface.

Thanks for the information. I thought there was a country specific model intended mainly for the UK.

There's probably one sold with a UK power supply. No idea if you can pick up those easily or the price.
