Input on BT's HALO option

My landlord has told me that BT has offered something called BT HALO. As the ADSL connection I currently have is quite poor (2.5 Mbps DL).

So as far as I can see, it is some hybrid between ADSL and 4G, but I cannot make out exactly how it works. So can anyone enlighten me?

And the place where I live the 4G signal is really poor, especially EE (1 bar, and around 1Mbps). So I would guess this solution does not make a lot of sense?

And because my current ADSL connection has quite poor bandwidth, the only thing I really use it for is gaming, where latency is more important. Would HALO help reduce latency and/or jitter?

Halo is a 4G backup (over the EE network) that kicks in only when your landline broadband goes down.
It doesn't combine the 2.
It won't help with latency.

Unless they changed it recently that is.

Halo with 4G is a failover setup, it doesn't bond services together for speed. The Business variants of the Halo product can include Hybrid Speed Boost which does bond them, but this doesn't sound like what you are being offered and it also doesn't help if the EE signal in your area is poor.

If you are prepared to share a postcode in here then people can see what services might be available, as well as what the best 4G signal is likely to be.

This is also assuming it is actually Halo 3+ that is being offered. Halo 3 doesn't include the 4G failover.
