Community fibre network UK

[link to this post]

I have allowed a new broadband provider named Community Fibre to reticulate their service into my apartment, they did so through a ADTRAN 612i XGS-PON network terminal connected to a LINKSYS router. It is all in a cupboard that has limited range, so is not effective throughout my residence.

I have various UBIQUITI components that have run into areas throughout the house, but have not been connected to the new Community Fibre equipment. These comprise a security gateway, an 8POE 150W switch and various flex switches, along with 3 x U6-Pro access points.

What I want to do now is connect a UBIQUITI network to this and have some existing components that are not setup yet. Anyone able to advise?

Do you know the username and password?

If so, set up the USG WAN port and connect directly to the ONT - that is unless CF have fully tied you down to using their router in which case you need their input.

I have CF here and use an EdgerouterX taking to the CF Adtranboz.

The CF box doesn't need a username or password - this is coded in by the tech.

Set your WAN port on the Ubiquiti to act as a DHCP client. It just needs to connect to the ADTRAN ethernet port. The ADTRAN box acts as one edge of an Ethernet bridge. Your Ubi box wil be issued with an IP address.

Its very simple once you've got the config right.

Community Fibre uses DHCP to connect up and is linked to your Routers MAC Address so there is no username or password.

If the OP wants to use their own Router they will first need to connect it all up and have the router use DHCP instead of the normal PPPoE etc.

Then while all connected up and powered up the OP will have to phone up Community Fibre and ask them to clear the MAC Address their end for both IPv4 and IPv6 due to them using their own Router, then after a couple of mins if that (mine was about 5 seconds) it should detect the new MAC Address and connect up fine.

I had to do all this when I setup my MikroTik RB4011iGS+RM Router on my connection.
