Fibre to the premises last 30 metrres

[link to this post]

Hello
When fibre to the home is delivered does it come on overhead line from a pole as now? I ask because I had always assumes that it would come underground but OpenReach are busy changing poles in a street that is destined to have fibre to the home soon.

Some lines are running through tree foliage and somehow it just feels wrong.

Thanks in anticipation.

The answer is, yes, most likely to come overhead, since this is how your current copper line is fed.

…. It is well protected, and robust. How many times have you had to to have your current copper span replaced ?

Thank you. I have had it replaced once in 5 years due to squirrels eating off the protection at the pole end. Tree adjacent and branches surround the pole.

Cheaper to replace a span every five years or so than it is to provide ducting.

If a major problem, then maybe you and your neighbours could arrange to have the tree pruned ?
