Short term contracts

[link to this post]

I have a holiday home in Croatia and the 5G internet contract we have here allows us to suspend the monthly payments when we are back in the UK and aren’t using it. We then put it back on when we return to Croatia. You can only do this once a year and for a maximum of 6 months but it saves paying monthly fees when you aren’t using the service. Is there any UK internet provider who has a similar contract. I’ve found nothing online (uswitch, MoneySupermarket etc) Everyone wants you to sign up to a long term contractt. I’m out of contract with Sky and don’t really want to sign up with them for a long term contract. We only use the internet for basic stuff like emails and browsing. We watch telly on an Amazon firestick and that’s fine for us.
Any advice/ insight? Tia

If you are not worried about retaining the mobile number it may be worthwhile investigating PAYG deals as there is a range of PAYG sims advertised as 1 month contracts. You can just bin the contract when you don't need it then start another one when you do.

Yeah they don't really exist anymore, it got to a point that NowTV Broadband was the only option but they now have vanished for broadband with sky supplying their service in full (their owner). So you're prob best to just find whatever is cheapest.

Most ISPs in the UK however allow wavering of the ETF's in full if you relocate abroad and inform them. Mainly as enforcing a contract if you're not in the UK becomes so cost prohibitive.

There are plenty of really good SIM-only deals on 1-month terms: e.g.

(Often the first 6 months are deeply discounted too). To be honest, I don't see why *anyone* takes a 12 month or longer contract these days.

In some direct network cases (EE do this, I think Vodafone do) there are bolt-on options that can only be chosen if you have a 12m or longer term at start. I hope that was just a website error and has now gone. I'm still on an EE SIM only from years ago (out of min term) with added on options that I couldn't get on 30day.

You talk of 5g in Croatia, and internet in UK. If you want a monthly mobile contract which covers your internet use, then companies such as 1p, or Lebara have 30 day contracts which you can stop and start, which revert to PAYG when not in contract, in fact I just recently did this for a short period on1p.
