Openreach sent me an email

[link to this post]

I am in a FTTC area and expressed an interest with OR for FTTP. They sent me an email beginning of the year asking if I was still interested. I clicked on the link and said yes. Anyone else getting these emails? Is it just a regulatory requirement to ask or are they re-assessing demand in my area?

I had one of those a few days ago, so it's not just your area.

I assumed they were just trying to tidy up their mailing lists so did the same as you.

eta- actually I got two of them, I'd somehow managed to express interest on two different email addresses blush

My initial thoughts were data protection requirements but further thought you could be right just tidying up.

Gigaclear arrived in my area about three months ago, it's possible BT wanted to see who was still interested- anything like that in your neck of the woods?

There was a company whose name escapes me showed interest but have a feeling they were taken over. Nothing in my area other than BT.

My guess is that it is exactly what it appears to be, you have expressed interest in the past, are you still interested ?

It has already cost big bucks, and they are trying to work out what, where, and when, for the next steps.

54-46 was my number

Not regulatory. It's simply a marketing email database, and they're doing a refresh like lots of other companies do and send you emails from time to time- "just checking you're happy to remain on our email DB".

After my little shenanigans with OR recently, as documented on here, some 2 days later the same notification database told me I was able to order FTTP!! I would never have guessed 😎🤣 This was of course completely separately to all other comms I'd had with Openreach by that point in time, confirming said availability. Including an OR customer satisfaction survey!!

Never got one at all, in fact the only company that sent me anything when Openreach FTTP network went live was Vodafone, which shocked me as I expected a whole load of them.

I did not think Openreach would send anything since they are just the network provider, but I suppose they may want to remind people that it is available

You would need to have originally signed up on the Openreach website with your email address (and noting your physical address) to receive notification when their FTTP build was complete.

https://www.openreach.com/fibre-checker/express-my-i...

They can’t email you if they don’t know.

I've had some of these in the last few weeks, from Openreach and also CityFibre.
They're just checking that you're still interested.
