Does Vodafone use CGNAT for home broadband (Openreach)?

Hi,

I need to urgently sign up for FTTP as my Virgin Media contract ends within the next month.

Does Vodafone use CGNAT for home broadband (Openreach)? My address is on the Openreach network.

No, they do not. They offer a free Static IP address to all customers.
https://www.vodafone.co.uk/cs/groups/configfiles/doc...
Home Broadband Extras Monthly Charge
Content Control Free
Static IP Free
Please note: If you have requested a static IP address the address allocated by us to you is for use only in connection
with your Vodafone Broadband and all rights in this address belongs to Vodafone and will revert to Vodafone on
termination of this Agreement. If you move house, we may need to issue you with a new static IP address

And here... https://www.hotukdeals.com/discussions/vodafone-stat...
Whenever an ISP offers free Static IP you should know that it will not be behind CGNAT. Port forwarding to an ISP that is behind CGNAT will not work. But of-course if it does give a free static IP address you can port forward.

The fact that they offer you one for free will always be an indicator that they aren't behind CGNAT.

But if you don't request a static ip there's a chance your connection will be cgnat. No problem, you can request the free static ip later, or you'll have an Ipv6 to use (vodafone have started using cgnat where an Ipv6 is provisioned, in some cases).

Do you have a link to anybody reporting CGNAT being deployed on Vodafone?

I've never had a problem with providers using CGNAT as long as IPv6 addressing comes alongside it. I actually wouldn't mind testing out Sky's MAP-T implementation but the SR203 won't get it I think.

Oliver.
