If I am understanding correctly:

- Connecting to smtp.idnet.com using an IDNet connection = bad
- Connecting to smtp.idnet.com using a different connection = good

Is that right?

Oliver.

No, connecting to the wonderfully reliable and slow ISP BT internet (ADSL2+ BTW) and changing my email address to BT.

As I said SFSG 🙃

I googled SFSG and it came up with "Special Forces Support Group". I was about to google again when I realised I assume it is "so far so good" - never seen that used before.

Connection speeds not very good (NVG)

Download 6.5Mbps. Upload 0.3Mbps, according to TBB speedtest . A little better with IDnet and my TPLInk router, 8 and 0.7 when the wind is in the east.

Well I am an EO line, 3.3K from the exchange, uphill all the way. Fibre, fibre, what's that???? BT say it will improve with time, but fail to mention how much time! At least Netflix works, SD of course....

I’d Googled it too …. but never had your lightbulb moment after.

Rather err…drastic step Andrew. But it clearly did the trick! 😎

It did but at the expense of connection speeds. I will blame it on the heat for now, everyone else is. Must be the copper wire between me and the exchange expanding so I am now further away!!!

Amazing how many email contacts I now have to notify.

Again, thanks so much for all your advice 👍 👍

It may be that your previous e-mail address is still live and accessible. If that is the case, can you set up a divert and an "out of office" message telling people that their e-mail has been diverted to your new address and asking them to update their address book?
