Is DVI(I think its calleD) much better than usua

[link to this post]

I have a TFT monitor, Phillips, which I never checked back of before, as it came with the usual monitor cable, i.e the one with a few pins, anyway on the back of my graphics card and on back of monitor, is what I think you called DVI? its like rows of holes I think 3 in a row each line.

is the pic on these outputs better than normal? if so is it worth buying a cable to get the better res!

depends on the monitor. A good vga (the cable youre using now) can give as good a picture as a dvi (not using) but as a general rule, dvi is a better quality picture

brand doesnt make it a good panel, its the panel type used (more than one type) and the equipment used to translate the signal which has more influence on the overall quality.

I find better picture clarity with the DVI cable supplied by samsung compard with the 15-pin dsub cable they supplied. Also it means you don't have to set up the monitor, with DVI it basically is done automatically (i assume at the gfx card level)

I agree, DVI is easy to setup, it provides an excellent crystal clear image.

Generally DVI should be far better - no cross talk etc and also no digital to analog to digital conversion done. At higher resolutions this does become noticable, when comparing inputs.
