What is required in order to connect a SATA hard drive to an eSATA connector?

Is there a conversion cable/kit required, and if so, can they be sourced through local retailers such as PC World, Comet, Maplin etc?

Basically u will need to power the drive and need the eSata drive.. Is this the drive from the icey Nas?

You need a SATA to eSATA data cable, but you also need some means to power the hard drive. It might be easier to use some sort of external box. Here's one, but it looks like you also need a USB connection to provide power. I believe that Maplins sell a similar box.

The drive itself is a straight SATA drive that is currently in the IcyBox.

Looking at various different solutions for harvesting the data whilst I move over to the QNAP and copying from the IcyBox itself is so slow it is just not worth it.

Also, if I can get the SATA drive connected to the eSATA port on the PC I can at least use the drive with the DLNA software on the PC to serve the media until I get a QNAP.

The IcyBox itself is functioning but I am now unable to write due to a lack of permissions that were there before.

This happened a few weeks back and after trying everything, I had to take the data off, reset to factory and start all over again which I simply cannot be bothered to do again.
