New Video Card

I think i have a weird issue with my video card so thinking of upgrading it anyway.

I have an ailing 8500GT in the system atm.

I wanna upgrade this but in not that knowledgable on the new NVidia Range.

I wanna spend around £70 tops im not a massive gamer but i do wanna be able to play the new Startrek Online MMO thats due out in just over a month.

Can anyone recommend a decent card?

The 9800gt is rebranded 8800 series card - would say the same for the gt240.

I agree with Taras in that ATI are slapping NVidia at the moment. This card for £60 is well worth considering

is an 8800 gt .. Just don't buy Nvidia untill they can get bring out new cards and not 2 year old rebranded 3 times cards ..

it would help if u listed what resolution you will be playing at on your monitor

Well that sounds more like a fanboy comment than anything else I've seen posted on this thread. I've had NVidia cards up until I built my new PC a few weeks ago and this time I picked an ATI card as they are just far better for the money than NVidia at the moment.

I'm not being an ati fanboi. I have a nvidia 6800 in this machine.Have had 3 other nivida gfx cards including multiple motherborads with nvidia chipsets and also brough at one stage nvtv.

But if I had £100 to spend on a card right now, it wouldn't be an nvidia card and tbh that opinion wouldn't change untill they replace their 3 year old card range . YES 3 YEARS OLD .

Accept that they are re-branding cards because they have no new chips since g92 (and if you really want to push it g80). The fact of the matter is that if you want a new and fast card get, a 48xx series or the 57xx or the 58xx series ati cards.

So pretty much worth getting the 57xx series .

As your waiting for about a month, wait and get the card then. Why, because there are shortages of the 57xx series chips and hence the high price for the cards.

Also are you on xp, vista or windows ?
