CPU question

My brother wants to up grade his cpu btu isnt sure if what he has found on the web is the right thing.

this is the PC

and wants to use the cpu below

The PC specs say P4 or Celeron. I suspect a dual core simply will not work with the motherboard....... A google on the SiS 661FX chipset suggests that this is almost definitely the case.

Any Pentium 4 CPU with 800mhz FSB is the max for that board, i'm assuming your brother has a Celeron processor.

But as its older technology i would be inclined to get a new motherboard.

Its an older PC and probably, isn't worth spending too much money on it, ages ago i had a knackard bell smile if he can afford it this is a good little pc, if your after it for gaming will need better psu and graphics card, dad bought one and I set it up, speedy enough rig.

I have a pentium 4 640 with HT that should work in that mobo if you dont want to spend a lot of £££ or buy a new PC.
