Cpu fan

[link to this post]

Does anyone know if i can replace the fan on my stock amd cooler? Temps are fine it's just too loud when it speeds up to fullspeed. It appears to be able to clip off the heatsink. So could i just buy another fan and clip that on?... do they sell just fans like that? If so anyone know where.

Btw here is a pic of it.

ps before anyone says my cables are insane. I had all the cables out connecting a 2nd g card for crossfire when i took that pic.

You can unscrew that fan, not un-clip it and then screw on a new fan thats the same size.

No. It looks like you can unscrew it due to screw holes on the fan. But they dont lead to anything there are no screws its just heatsink under them. There are these clip things 4 of them on the sides. One thing that worries me about replacing it. Is the motherboard needs to be able to control the fans speed. Like i said i cant find any fans on ebuyer that look compatible.

..

ok so there is a clip that "clips" onto the heatsink that the fan is attached to. how is the fan attachted? its not all one part.

EIDT:

I think i see how this works now, Unclip the fan and remove it then just add a new fan that is the same size. It should just clip in as well.

it's hard to see in pic but there are these 4 tiny like clip things holding cpu fan in place.

Surley if you replace 1 fan for another , it will still sound the same ? Be running at the same speed to keep the heatsink at the correct temp. If your looking to make your machine run quiet then i'd suggest changing the heatsink for a bigger one with a larger fan that can pass more air through the heat sink at a slower speed. I've just changed the stock cooler for an AMD Quad 9950 and it now runs very quiet even at full load.

This is what i've installed Processor Fan

If you decide to go along this line, make sure your case is big enough , this heat sink is 16cm high.

This is my case.

Do you think it will fit in that case?

Edit

What about this cooler. It says its quiet and its not very big. I'm not too bothered with temps as long as its like not insane. I don't overclock.

Yes i think it'll fit in your case The easiest thing to do is just drop a bit of non conductive material in to your machine to see how much clearance you've got. Just a little word of warning , on my motherboard there are a few heatsinks that come very close to touching the processor heat sink, so getting fingers in to attach the clips was a bit trying.

The Scythe processor fan looks like it will do the job, but looking at your motherboard picture, i notice that your memory is quite close to the processor, again if i was you i'd just measure to make sure that there is clearance to be able to install it.
