My son desktop processor( amd athlon 2000+), shows as 1.24 Gh speed under win xp he. However my desktop proccessor is slower (amd athlon 1600+), but windows xp rates it as 1.41 Hz!!. Any ideas why and what can I do to rectify it?

My educated guess would be is the FSB is set to 100mhz rather than 133mhz, this maybe due to the memory or because the BIOS setting is wrong (I had a PC that would sometimes drop the FSB down to 100mhz randomly)

I believe the 2000+ should run at 1.67ghz, divide this by 133 gives a multiplier of ~12.5 and 12.5 * 100mhz approximately gives you your value of 1.24ghz

Hope that helps!
