Lexmark X4580 & Windows 7

[link to this post]

Hey guys,

My Mum has purchased a new laptop running Windows 7 and wishes to use it with the Lexmark X4580 All-In-One Printer which is currently in the house. It works fine with my laptop and my Dad's (running Vista and XP respectively - with the 2000/XP/Vista drivers). Now, there are Windows 7 drivers available from the Lexmark Driver Download website. However, these seem to start installing (enough to warrant an entry in the programs list in the control panel - although it says the program cannot be found if you try and uninstall it!) and the printer does not show up in the Printers section of Windows also.

Any ideas? As I could not uninstall the software (or the small bit that installed), I did a system restore so that I am back to where I was before. Can I add it manually without the software? I'm assuming not.

Can't help you with the printer but Revo Uninstaller gets rid of practically anything both cleanly and safely. There is a free version. For help with the printer, try SevenForums.
