Laptop DDR3 vs Desktop DDR2

I am selling my PC and got a laptop instead.

My PC was a Q8300 with 4GB DDR2 @ 800Mhz

My laptop is a core i5 480M with 4GB of DDR3 @ 1066Mhz

BUT...

The ram on my desktop performs better.. and i cant see why.

Bandwidth on my desktop ram is about 24% more/faster than the laptop... surly the laptop would have faster/higher bandwidth when it comes to the ram?? or am i missing somtehing here?

Have you tried Sandra Lite (Sisoft) for bandwidth comparison scores?

Could be that the desktop has better prediction algorithms, or even a bigger cache, but it's a pure guess.

Without a few tests, it's impossibe to tell, but one guess would be the config. Laptops are generally configured to run efficiently and save battery power (even if on mains power), so there might be some thing going on that way too.
