A prize for anyone who knows....!

[link to this post]

I finally got round to updating my Ethernet driver (has been in Windows Update for months). When finished I checked the power settings and came across 'allow only a magic packet to wake computer' which is greyed out and ticked. I have googled and am none the wiser! Can anyone explain in plain English? When I'm connected by wire my Internet connection wakes immediately after I resume from Standby. You can imagine the hassle with wireless though - will the manufacturers ever sort this out?

Its for Wake On LAN, to allow a PC to be turned on from Standby by some other device on the LAN by sending a magic packet.
