My Dlink G604T is playing silly [censored] with me.
It was running G624T firmware but i decided to see how it would run on its own firmware.
So flashed it, all went well and it is working, status light is on, ADSL tries to connect but will fail as it dont have the right settings yet.
It will work as a router and i can access other computers that are connected to it but there is one big BUT in here
I have no idea what its IP is now.
DHCP does not seem to be working even after trying to reset it via the reset button several times now. I have tied to find it by setting my own PC's IP
I have tried:
10.1.1.1
10.0.0.0
192.168.1.1
192.168.0.1
192.168.0.199
192.168.1.199
Cant get nothing on any of those IP's So how do i find out what it is?

If on windows open a cmd window and type ipconfig.
Try using the default gateway address listed.
Edit. Just realised you say DHCP isn't working so probably won't be any help.

Set a PC to 'automatically obtain IP' and then once obtained, run ipconfig.

DHCP does not seem to be working If DHCP is not working how can you access other computers? Access from/to where?

im using my BTHH at the moment for the ADSL, if i then connect this dlink to the BTHH and then connect the rest of my network to the dlink i can access the internet, and 1 pc that connected directly to the HH.
DHCP dose not need to be working for a router, to well... route traffic.

Ah! you now introduce a BTHH into the equation! That's where the "non-working" DHCP is working .

Well, the default address is 10.1.1.1, so if you've set your computer to 10.1.1.2 and can't ping the router then something is wrong.
You could always use a portscanner to scan all likely ranges for any open ports (there's got to be some open ports on a router) and then look for addresses you don't recognize. Or you could just try installing the firmware again.
But you say it's acting as a router. How do you know that without knowing what it is routing from and to? To act as a router it's got to be set as someone's gateway. So what address(es) is it listening on as a router?

|
|
Cant say, i just know its "working" and "routing" traffic though my network.. at the very least its behaving like a switch.
but i cant get to its config page nor get an IP from it via DHCP

Ah. A switch is not a router.
Try the portscan.

The default IP address is 192.168.1.1 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0
Have you double checked that IP as gateway with the correct mask? Definitely not IPv6?

Interesting, the manual says 10.1.1.1. Whatever, one of them should work.
It sounds to me like a failed firmware update. I doubt the switch part of it relies upon the firmware and it's beginni g to sound like it's not responding on any IPAddress. DHCP should be enabled by default, so something is wrong.

seems so..

It should go without saying, but to connect to all those IP addresses, you should put your computer in the same subnet with similiar IP address. If you have tried to connect to all them IP addresses when your machine has an APIPA address, then it is of course not going to work.
