Inkjet Printer

Hi all,

I need a new all-in-one inkjet printer (preferable with wireless) and would like a recommendation.
How much will be a reasonable amount to pay for one? My old one has now given up the ghost after almost 8 years.

Start with a max budget, and look for minimum spec (such as pps, duplex, fax or whatever features). That ought to narrow things a little. Then take a look at cartridge replacement prices and so on. Also consider how much use it will get vs the price. Is it worth spending £££s for something that get used once or twice a week?

Thinking of getting either one of these, what do you guys think?

A friend has the 5250 and is very pleased with it. Somewhat cumbersome to set up the wireless connection - the network key has to be entered via the tiny screen and cursor keys on the printer. Apart from that it's a good little printer. Oddly enough, at the time the best deal was from Jessops (camera folk) though that was about 12 months ago.

Not a fan of all in ones to be honest. but i do like Canon printers, I got one here which is getting on a bit now, i think either of those printers will do fine, at least they got separate colour tanks, which is a good thing.

Kodak printers seems to be ok and cheap to run with their own ink, but they got a single cartridge for all the colours which puts me off a bit.

As for setting up wireless, i set up a Kodak and that was a bit fiddly with a small screen and cursor keys, but was easy enough, i doubt the Canon is any worse.

most printers are the same the only thing worth considering is the cost of ink as that in most circumstances is expensive and the cheep ink's in my experiences always fail at some point and with a printer like an epson for example it's a trip to the tip when it happens as so often it does

Thanks for all the responses. Will be getting the MG5250 from my local currys tomorrow. Will it come with starter ink cartridges to start one of with?
