PC headset sought

I need to buy a new headset as my Creative HS-450 has died, due to too heavy a foot - caught the cable and it's broken internally, or something like that .

I could buy another pair £21.75 on Amazon or £49.99 from play.com - refurbished!.

I want a headset that uses 3.5mm jacks for headphone and microphone, has a microphone mute switch, headphone volume control, is comfortable, and sounds good (to my ears).

I'm not into gaming - though I wonder whether the use of the word gaming in headset product names tries to set an expectation of quality, with appropriate price adjustment.

Price, I'd have thought £30-£40 should be adequate.

So, any thoughts on a reasonable headset?
