New Laptop

Hi all,

I need to buy at least 4 laptops to be used by school kids for their work, mainly office applications. I have a budget of max £250 per machine.

Please can anyone recommend any that I should be looking at. Will it be possible to get ones with Intel Core i3 or is that impossible.

Sorry forgot to mention that the £250 does not include vat. Windows and anything from xp.

For a school you need well built sturdy machines and not some of the frontline cheap domestic ones. Go to PC World and John Lewis and see what they feel like.

You may also find that the warranty might exclude "educational" use (along with some others) because they manufacturers know how they are treated.

It may also be worth finding the "Education" section on the manufacturers website where they offer lower prices if you can prove that it is a school buying them. Some retailers also have similar sections.

They may take you over budget but you should consider that too.

The HP 650 and the Fujitsu AH512 are the same speck he HP £8 more but personally i prefer HP over Fujitsu if its about money then the Fujitsu would save £33.32+VAT personal choice really on that note

the Acer Aspire E1 has a 100Mhz per core faster processor and slightly bigger HDD in educational environment i dont think that would make much real world difference and at £23+VAT per Laptop difference it would be over £100 more again same with the Lenovo IdeaPad G580

the Compaq CQ58 & Lenovo B570e seam to have the same processor as the The HP 650 & the Fujitsu AH512 but with bigger HDD again i dont think this would be worth the extra expense

This is all personal opinion but i think the The HP 650 or the Fujitsu AH512 would be best options for cost and spec hope this helps you
