Slight flicker

I noticed today turning on my Philips 10 year old monitor a slight flicker is the CCFL tube on the way out?

Before suspecting the monitor, double check the cables, refresh rate, and that there's nothing interfering with the signal (magnetic or electrical sources, such as speakers).

That all aside, at ten years old, it might be.

Just seems to be when its warming up maybe time for a new one.

Crank the handle faster.

Anyone heard of AOC monitors?

I used to have a couple of excellent AOC CRT monitors, until they died.
Now I like my LG Flatron Wide monitors - but the models I have are no longer available. I'd try Benq as an alternative.

AOC have been around for ages. I've just become a devout believer in Dell IPS screens if you feel you deserve a slightly costlier treat. http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews.htm is useful for in depth reviews and finding out which panel is actually in the monitor.

Im impressed with the Dell Ultrasharps so far and the warranty from Dell including a panel warranty for bright pixels although no mention of dark pixels. Main thing for me is height adjustment because my monitor is on a shelf. Others I have looked at dont have this.

I've had a u2412 for a few months now, and the thing I'm most impressed by is the picture... It has bought back queues to use the desktop in to what had become a household of laptop users.

I've got about 5" height adjustment on the stand,along with tilt and swivel, and got it at such a good price I bought a dead pixel guarantee to go with it despite my general feeling that they are probably unnecessary these days. In the unlikely event the stand wont let you set it up just so, have you considered a VESA mount on the wall above the shelf?

Picked it up from novatech if memory serves. Didn't have any dealings with Dell directly, but I did quiz their customer services intensively when I bought my ultrabook and they were faultless.
