Hi,
Using the power supply calulator it says min 570W recommended 620W, Im thinking of a Thermaltake or similar
What power supply would you recommend for this system
Intel i7-3930K socket 2011
Gigabyte X79-UD3
4 * 4GB Corsair 1600 DDR3
Nvidia GTX570
8 sata hard drives
1 DVDRW
2 200mm fans
2 120mm fans
Thanks,

Sorry, I can't give a specific recommendation!
However, may I suggest that you double-check precisely what connections your existing PSU provides & double-check this against the specifications of the PSU that you intend getting?
I found out the hard-way that some do not include all of the anticipated connections!!

Yeah Ive already looked into that on a couple of power supplies, varies greatly even between an 850W and 1000W I was looking at

I cant recommend a particular model but can recommend Corsair PSUs. Noted for stability and good construction.

I'd second (or third) Corsair. One with modular cables is best as it means you don't have loads of unused cables blocking airflow. 650W seems a little generous for that collection of components, but I guess it's better to be conservative than over-optimistic.
Edit: I didn't notice the requirement for 8 disks! I'm sure you are correct that at least 650W is needed - I'd plump for a 750W one.

Whilst I would tend to agree with your description, might I just add that it was a "750W Corsair Enthusiast Series TX75" that gave me the problem with inadequate connections?

That's one of the reasons that I prefer modular PSUs. They give more flexibility in which connectors you have.

My system is similar in ways to yours but I only have 2 x 1TB HDDs + 120GB SSD installed and only 2 Fans.
My PSU is the CORSAIR 650W ENTHUSIAST SERIES TX650 V2-80 PLUS® BRONZE.
So I would suggest something maybe better than that, have also found that the Corsairs are the best.

The PSU that I bought was a Modular, but it still did not have the specific output that I needed - nor did there appear to be the option for creating it!
I ended up buying a "bog-standard" Maplin supplied PSU, which had all of the correct connections!

The need for 8 SATA connectors may limit your choice a little, particularly if you need a 9th one for the optical drive. The Corsair web page lists which connectors come with which PSUs (several of them do have at least 8 SATA). I believe that they sell additional cables for their modular units, if necessary, or you could always use one Molex to SATA converter.

Or possibly use a sata power splitter cable
NOTE: I have no experience with this company, just happened to be the first one in a google search.
