Motherboard won't take two dimms.

Hi everyone.

Only just upgraded to Windows 7 from XP yesterday so thought I would upgrade the RAM also. Desktop was running 1GB of DDR400 but it will not accept more than one DIMM be it any size. Motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-K8NSNXP Socket 754 with latest 16c BIOS. Tried all different combinations of slots. Any help would be appreciated.

what combination of Ram are you using ?

It works fine with 1 x 1GB DDR400 Dimm but can't it to work with 2 x 1GB DDR400 Dimms. It is Team Group memory.

How many slots? 2 or 4? If 4 try them in different slots.

If 2 slots... the only thing you can do is try swapping them around, if it doesn't work at that stage, I think you'll need to accept the mobo won't support it

It has three slots and tried all combinations. I think I will have to accept that it won't take it even though the spec says up to 3GB with three slots. I think it's time for a new machine anyway!

It has 3 slots each support 1gb memory, is it deffo the same memory and not just the size?

Have you tried 'BIOS to default' settings, specifically are the memory voltages on auto? You might find that with more modules you have to relax the timings or even run at a lower FSB setting.
