Dodgy power cable?

Can power cables make noises?

Reason i ask is being getting this high pitch buzzing noise (had one in the CPU fan but that was fixed by swapping it) from the PSU. Or i thought it was from the PSU, but i noticed if i moved the power cord slightly it stopped. So found a spare one and replaced it, and so far its not done it. Not sure why it would make the noise, but it does appear it was coming from the cable and not the fan

Yes- if you have a poor connection at one end or the other it can result in slight but audible arcing (sparking).

Best to bin it- it's a possible fire risk.

(Cut the connectors off as close to the cable entry as possible so nobody else can use it)

I dont think it sounded like sparking (not the type you get on electrical overhead power lines anyway), was more a high pitched hissing noise. Bit hard to describe it but does appear the cable was at fault.
