HGST drives

Anyone notice that the HGST drives have shot up in price from around the £60 into the couple of hundred mark. Any idea why?

Few on the market?

Perhaps the helium filled ones are imminent and they (retailers) want to get what they can on the older models?

Or the new ones will be priced high, so they (HGST) don't want folk to run a mile from the new ones?


I'll go with Option 2

They seem to have gone up since WD took them over but WD drives have remained the same prices.

Edit: Bit more digging and HGST is celebrating 1 Million helium drives in the wild of the 6TB and 8TB flavours. No mention of lower capacity, maybe they are filled with Helium too and that is why the price increase?
