USB and Wireless only on the printer.

Checked advanced options in router and the printer was assigned to a different IP address from last install. If the router has restarted since installing the printer then may be the address has altered.

I would have thought the printing software would have chosen the printer name from the router and no matter what the address would have sent the print info to the correct address : eg choose device from wireless list and send info.

Tried Batboy's idea and ticked the "always use same address" box and that seems to kick the printer in to life ("ready" instead of "offline") and has worked so far. Only time will tell.

Consider changing the configuration of the printer port on the PC so that it addresses the printer by network name rather than IP address. It'll cut out any problems with changing IP address at least.

I have no idea how to do that.

Nearly three months and had no issues since following the suggestion from BatBoy.
