Sandisk U100 SSD failed

Only had it a few months although it was an ebay purchase it had zero hours on smart data when I started using it. It just disappeared from the system. Now trying a Kingspec drive which was spare, anyone else seen this. I have another sandisk but dont think I will risk it, just as well I had a backup on spinny disk.

Can you see a date of manufacture on it? It may well be worth trying a warranty claim.

Not that I can read even with my glasses on.

Have scanned it and blown it up and on the back it has checkboxes marked 12/15 so have submitted RMA to Sandisk.

I hope that means Wk 12 2015 and not 2012 Wk 15 ...

My experience of SanDisk is that they will ask you to send it back to the central operation in Eastern Europe and they then check it before sending a replacement by courier.

The boxes are 1-12, 12 marked and 15, 16, 17, with 15 marked.

So, December 15 ... I would normally have expected a week not a month though.

Filled in RMA form with attached scanned pictures of the SSD and a screenshot of ebay receipt. Interesting I got a survey from Western Digital about the RMA form, apparently they now own Sandisk.

Now to wait for instructions.

I've crossed swords with WD before and they will not recognise eBay as a retailer.

WD took over SanDisk around May this year (deal completed).
