Re: Which HDD for PC Data?

You're welcome,

Honestly as others have said what you suggested sounds fine. Personally I no longer trust spinning media because of a close shave in the past where the spindle messed up and I couldn't retrieve stuff which luckily I had already backed up to Google Drive.

I mainly use an SSD for start up times - going from power on to desktop in about 18 seconds is magical - and that's on an old office Dell machine. Just for storage a 4TB HDD would be fine, provided it's backed up of course. I still have a WD WD40EZRZ 4TB which I used in a cheap external dock - rarely use it these days

In this day and age, no need to keep it all in 1 place anyway

I don't think there is much between the brands of any hard drives these days.

From time to time I'm given a load of machines, mostly laptop but some desktops scrounged from businesses. I fettle them up and sell a couple to buy spares and donate the rest locally.

I've been buying SSD/M.2 off aliexpress, usually the Goldenfir brand and compared to only a few years ago prices have dropped through the floor. 500GB for @£25 and 1TB for @£50 delivered. I've not tried the 2TB yet but they are £92
