Non EXPO DDR5 sold as EXPO - Thoughts?

[link to this post]

A little background.

I recently changed from AM4 to AM5. 5800X3D to a 9700X. Until the x3d versions come if they are decent. Or I might try and get a 7800X3D. I did all this vs waiting as my home server needed an upgrade and thought, might as well upgrade my PC and use my old parts for the server.

Anyway.

I was having instability in games and windows with crashing all the time. New CPU. Still crashed. New RAM. problem solved.

So I was using a kit of Corsair DDR5 6400 XMP. I didn't get any memory errors in testing but I assume some timings in the XMP were not getting on with the 9700X.

The new kit, I got specifically as it was in the motherboards QVL and advertised EXPO. (Lexar)

First off, I will say it work perfectly fine with the XMP that it uses. No issues so far. I can even run the IMC at 1:1 with the ram (3200Mhz) so thats nice.

But there is no EXPO. Nothing in the UEFI, Nothing showing in programs like CPUZ, RAMMon, Thaiphoon burner etc. So I contacted Lexar support about this and was told that early batches of this RAM DO NOT support EXPO only XMP

Is it just me or is that just not ok? Ok sure the ram works but I bought it based on it working with EXPO and not XMP.

I'm on the fence with this one. Sure, if it didn't work right like the Corsair kit and EXPO was missing id be sending it back in a heartbeat...
