My New Toy

[link to this post]

My mate gave me 4 HDDs to play with, 3 x 3TB and a 2.5TB WD spinners. I don't have enough ports on my desktop to fit them so I bought a SSD/HDD USB3 Dock with PSU from the bay of plenty made by Sonnics, a UK firm for 99p (was first and only bidder) with fiver postage.

It arrived today well packed and so I have been trying to get the HDDs working. The 2.5tb wasn't recognised so must be a dud although I have had it in my desktop for a week but it had 98 bad sectors so must have died now. Another one of the 3TB had 1100 bad sectors and the drive was slowwwwwwwww.

The other 2 x 3TB are ok so I am using them to backup my system. The Sonnics dock is really handy, doesn't need any drivers, works on MS Windows and Linux and is hot swappable. Not bad for 99p.
