As others have said, it sounds as though it is a surface mounted box if it is sticking out that much more than others. It won't be an easy task. To replace it with a recessed box you would need to buy something like this if it is a plasterboard wall

https://www.screwfix.com/p/appleby-galvanised-steel-... and whatever new faceplate you want(such as

To fit you would need to:
- Unscrew the existing faceplace and remove the RJ45 module
- Remove the eight cables from the RJ45 port
- Remove the existing back box from the wall
- Cut out (if plasterboard) or drill out (if brick) a 7.5x7.5cm square hole in your wall, taking care not to damage the Hyperopitc wire coming into your property
- Mount whichever back box is appropriate, ensuring the wire comes through at an appropriate point
- Feed the wire through your new faceplace and re-wire the Hyperoptic cable to the RJ45 module you removed earlier using a wiring tool (such as

- Clip the RJ45 port you removed earlier into your new faceplace
- Screw the new faceplace into your new recessed back box
