Hyperoptic with Asus AC86u

[link to this post]

HI ,

I have just connected an Asus AC86u router replacing the hyperpotic one. Once connected, I have noticed a slow down in speeds for large downloads. For example downloading games off steam or any other gaming client, i used to get close to 60MBps however now its not been going beyond 6 to 8MBps. I have the 500 Mbps connection.
Believe a couple of people have the same sort of hardware, much appreciated if hyperoptic or someone on this forum could help and let me know if there are some settings that need to be fine tuned.

First what firmware version are you using?
Are you using QoS (Adaptive QoS)?

If you are using QoS are bandwith settings correct for upload/download?
If this dosn't fix the this is issue, could give us screen shoot of it.

What server is Steam using? I've noticed that Steam has a tendency to default to the wrong server (Manchester instead of London) so you might want to check that it's using the correct one that's appropriate for your location.

Hi, hope you all are doing well!

Are you using 5ghz frequency (if it is wifi)?
Also, from which server are you downloading? If you are downloading from a server in California or Bejing (for example, though it can be any far off-site), it does indeed slow down the speed and increase the ping. The same thing can happen if you are using VPN.

Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
