Swapping from BT Fibre 250 to Hyperoptic

[link to this post]

I am considering switching from BT Fibre 250 to Hyperoptic Ultrafast or Hyperfast, both of which are available at my home address.

Does anyone know if this will require a new hardwired installation from street level, or would I be able to connect the Hyperoptic kit to my existing BT (Openreach) fibre converter? We have our own CAT6 LAN throughout the house so no mesh networking would be needed.

Thanks in advance for your answers!

Hyperoptic use their own infrastructure, so you will need their fibre brought to your premises and you will need their ONT If you have your own router, you will unplug from the BT ONT, reconfigure the router and connect to the Hyperoptic ONT. Otherwise, you will swap routers too.

Thanks.

My question refers mainly to the internal wiring. Do Hyperoptic need to run their fibre all the way INTO our home to end in their own ONT, or can their cable terminate at the external boundary of our property?

They shouldn’t interfere with anything they didn’t supply, so it’s a complete installation, they cannot use the Openreach cable from the Openreach CSP to the Openreach ONT location, they will supply everything used in delivering their services and reuse nothing that exists that is Openreach property

Yes they need to bring a new fibre all the way from the street into your house, they can't use any of the existing Openreach fibre cabling at all. They will also install their own ONT in your house too, again they can't use the Openreach one as they are a totally separate physical network.
