1gig up and down, I just don't think the speed tests cater for those types of speeds.

Speedtest.net can definitely handle gigabit. Try a different host.

Try Maidstone as that's on a 10Gbit link so should manage a 1Gbit speedtest.

At those speeds you MUST also monitor the network interface throughput, as very easy for calculations to give wrong figures.

Plus a great many gigabit interfaces on a PC may be the limiting factor.
