Device choice - what's the presentation ?

So I've read that they turn up and change a faceplate - what's the actual presentation in the home ?

Do we need a special modem/router to use ethernet ?

What type of device is used ?

It is a Gig Ethernet port in the home.

They supply a HyperHub as part of the service.

Do you know if you can get linestats out of it with snmp ?

HyperHub isn't a vendor I'm familiar with smile

Is it a static IP allocation (like a /30 ?)
Any tunnelling ? (PPPOE/PPPOA?) ?

On IP allocation, best to wait for the Hyperoptic team to answer that one.

I've been with Hyperoptic for just under a year now. Even though they won't guarantee a static IP on their packages, as far as I can tell my IP has remained the same even after multiple router restarts.

As others have said, it's a bit tricky to find info on the router, but it's actually quite a good one (if a bit bulky).

Is it ethernet framing at the wall ? (i.e I can do firewalling/routing myself so long as I am presented ethernet)

Yes. You can. You can just plug it directly into your PC if you wanted to as well.
