How long for migration?

oki ive taken the plunge and given Idnet my Mac, So how long can i expect till its up and running? i got an emali saying by the 11th, is there any chance that it will be done before that?

The 11th is only 3 working days away!!!

But it could happen- if you want to check just try changing your login details to those given in the email, if they work you've been migrated, if they don't then you haven't and you'll have to change them back again. (So write the old details down first!)

Lol i knw its 3 working days, its just i am one of those impatient people that once i have ordered somthing i want it here yesterday :-) One question though is will my current connection stop once i change over ? so the internet will stop working and then i will have ot put the new details into my router?

Hard to say....

What is supposed to happen is that when BT have activated your new acount they inform the old ISP, who then tell BT to disable it- so your internet connection will drop, you enter your new details and away you go.

In practice it doesn't alway work that smoothly, and while you shouldn't ever be left without a connection, it's not at all impossible that for a few days or more you may have the choice of two! This isn't as useful as it sounds, as you will be getting charged for both

So the usual recommendation is to check for your new account at intervals and, as soon as you pick up the new one, inform your old ISP of the fact then they have no excuse to charge you beyond that date. It's not a problem with most, to be fair, but a look around the forums here will show that efficiency on migration isn't a universal trait...
