Thx bill. where from the UK are u located btw? I ask kos i know i'll be fairly close to the servers at IDnet from my location, im down in Kent. Weird thing though is the ping seems to be a bit high (idnet) despite the low number of hops. o btw is that max adsl your on with interleaving on or not?

Im currently on blueyonder but i suffer so much instability and loss, but as a potential lower ping it seems lower on BY.

My tracert however takes 13 hops in total compared to that of your 7 which is good stability wise.

But just to confirm can you do a straight ping of that IP over 8 packets or so? Im hoping it might be a bit lower 2nd time average =)

thanks

I'm in South Oxfordshire, maybe a bit closer to the IDNet servers than you, but not enough to matter.

Yeah, I'm on MaxDSL, no interleaving.

ta. yeah im down near gillingham in kent. but the loss i get with blueyonder its quite ridiculous. cant do anything till after 10gmt really every night. It goes through telia before it reaches the amsix hop on this one.

but odd that it pings around 27-29ms thats a fair difference dont know how that all works out.

this wot im getin now:

Tracing route to ms06.monsterserver.de [82.96.85.45]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

13 28 ms 27 ms 28 ms ms06.monsterserver.de [82.96.85.45]

funny thing is the 10.x.x.x ip sometimes goes up to 150 or something silly =) thats why i cant even play on uk servers either then heh. Its very much a telewest area that im in at the moment.

I'm not a gamer, so beyond posting pings I can't help much.... there are more gamers over in the IDNetters forum, you might get more help there.

yeah, its only really at peak times i'll be using it for that but it seems most isp's have issues during this period.. but thats because most seem to be offering cheap deals related to a bandwidth figure than an actual decent internet. ta for the link btw.

I'll test for you later tonight. I haven't played online for a good few months, but I can say that IDNet did have great pings on servers I played on. Not sure now, though
