Can anyone tell me if you get a fixed IP address and whether email wise it accepts relay.. Ie I have another email address and want to send under that domain.
I just want email and basically a very fast FTP. I barely get over 10gb a month. I would really like the faster upload speed. It is sort of teleworking but not a proper business thing.
Yes, it's a fixed IP, but you'll need to talk to CS about the email... I think what you want can be set up, but not on the standard free email systems.
Why not set up a free-standing email address with someone like 1and1 or the IDNet SecureMail? Then your mail is separate from your ISP, and if you have to change ISP it has no effect on your email.

Maybe I am not explaining myself very well. I have a hosted domain elsewhere which has its own mail server. All I want to do is use the new connection to send out email to that domain in a similar way to having an email address using POP3 with say BT. The email does not require Secure Password Authentication (SPA).
Register (or login) on our website and you will not see this ad.
For incoming mail, you will be able to collect e-mail from wherever you want using POP3.
For outgoing mail (and I suspect this is what you're asking about), I guess the question is, can you send mail using the IDNet SMTP servers when the e-mail's "from" and "reply-to" address is not an IDNet hosted e-mail address. Am I right? If so, I'm sure someone who does this may be able to answer.
For my own part, I also have my own hosting elsewhere and I use e-mail hosted on that account. I use that account's SMTP servers (which confirms that port 25 isn't blocked) rather than IDNet's SMTP servers.
Yes, you can use the IDnet SMTP server for outgoing mail and your Domain POP3 server for incoming mail, I have a couple of domains with pop3 mail servers and I use IDNet smtp server for all the email addresses on both domains with no problems.
OTOH, if you are hosted by 1&1, you can also use their auth.smtp servers, which is what I do for my domain emails, with IDNet sending all the rest (I collect email accounts ).
You just need to use a valid SMTP server, which can either by your ISPs, but you can only use this when connected to your ISP of from an authenticated independent SMTP server (e.g 1&1's).
For what it's worth, I use the 1&1 SMTP server for all my emails, regardless of which email account I am sending from.
