Mail- any Mac users?

[link to this post]

How do I set the Mac Mail accounts so that I can use the IDNet SMTP servers to send when I'm connected to a non-IDNet ISP/line?

I know how to do it on Windows Mail, but I can't see the equivalent setting on the Mac

If no-one here answers, Bill, look out for Tacitus on Netters or ask support, they are fluent in Mac.

Cheers Rik.

I don't need it until next week so I'll see how it goes for a day or two on here.

Wasn't a problem when I used the Acer laptop (Vista), but now I've got a lovely new MacBook

Hi Bill

In Mac Mail, choose Preferences then Accounts. In the Account Information tab expand the Outgoing Server drop-down and choose Edit Server List.

Under Advanced, expand the drop-down and choose Password. Here you need to enter your usual POP3 uname+passwd.

Some ISP's block port 25 outbound. If that happens you can change to use port 465.

Cheers
Simon
