Webspace.

[link to this post]

I have been playing with my IDNet web space and uploaded various files the names of some I can't remember I would like to be able to log in and see what they are called.

I have a domain on another server and I can log into that with ftp://www.********.co.uk but if I try the same on IDNet I get "Alert 421, Unable to set up secure anonymous FTP"

Any ideas anyone please?

You have to go via ftp ftp.idnet.com then use your login name and password. Usually this is the same as your main log in password to idnet and often the user name is your login name before the idnet domain.

eg login my.name
password whatever it is on your idnet page login.

Unless you have changed them.

Go to idnet customer login in page and all the settings are there. https://www.idnet.net/secure/

No, username was a bit too generic.

I am just a bit slow - Although I have been with IDNet for years this thread has made me realise that webspace is available!

All now setup and working.

Incidentally I had to use my full login name [email protected] as the ftp login name. username by itself did not work for me. To set it up as a "Network place" in Windows explorer I used username%40uk.idnet.dsl4 as the username.

One quick question - how much space is available? If it matters I am on the home 24.99 package.

Tim.

Up to 2GB shared between your web space and photo space I beleive.

Thanks.

That is certainly a very generous allowance for free space.

I joined IDNet just two years ago. Prior to that I was with Virgin ADSL but they went downhill faster than your average bob-sleigh!! However, I did use their free webspace and the pages I uploaded are still there

Of course I can't login to delete them and they ignore my emails but makes one wonder just how much space is taken up on servers with unwanted junk

Such is the fate of all Virgins after that first experience.
