IDNet upgrade today

[link to this post]

Our new Central (into BT's 20th Century Network) and the new 1Gbps Host Link into the 21st Century Network (for up to 24 Mbps ADSL2+ services) are scheduled to go live tomorrow. In preparation we will be connecting a new router to our network today. Whilst we bring the new router into service some users may experience some intermittent routing issues - please accept our apologies in advance for any disruption this may cause, we will endeavour to keep it minimal.

We will then start beta testing the new ADSL2+ services next week with the view to rolling-out to all users who are connected to 21CN exchanges within the next few weeks. We will keep you posted on our progress.

I've just been off for half an hour or so, seems OK again now though

We had a routing problem. Apologies for the inconvenience. We're investigation the cause.

Simon

I was down for about 15 minutes, Bill, as they re-booted all the routers (not planned, slight hiccough during the upgrade).

Things should be OK now though.

No problem Simon, I'd had the RSS notification so wasn't too bothered.

I knew it would get fixed PDQ

I'm not dead sure of the down time, I think I lost routing for about 25 minutes then PPP went down for 5 minutes or so. But it all came back on its own

We also lost routing for about 30 mins and then ppp for about 5 mins.

It would have been good to have received an email warning about the planned work.

We don't all take the RSS feed or monitor this site.

Re: Speed drop since IDNet upgrade

[re: deleted] [link to this post]

My download speeds have dropped from above 7 mbps to approximately 4.5 mbps since a brief PPP loss circa 1 pm. Is this due to the upgrade?

It shouldn't be, what are your line stats like? I did run a speed test after the incident, and mine was normal.
