My Experiences

[link to this post]

Hi All,

As a user of IDNet's ADSL services since 2005 I thought I should come here an share my experiences with you all.

Granted that my attention was first drawn to this forum a few weeks back when my connection died and I was left trying to work using a mobile broadband dongle, but overall my experiences with IDNet have been exceptional and in all honesty I am extremely surprised to see the mass of negativity surrounding them on these forums!

I use my connection for both working from home and for gaming (whenever I get the chance). As such my life pretty much depends on my connection.

I'd be lying if I said that I'd never experienced any issues and I'd also be lying if there were times when BT (the bloomin barstewards) destroyed my ping in games by enabling Interleaving. However, on the whole - and yes this is a big '4 year whole' my time with IDNet has been trouble free and their customer service unmatched by any company I've ever made contact with.

2 years ago I moved house and naturally I wanted to take IDNet with me. Being a home worker I was reliant that I have a new connection my new home. IDNet did not let me down and went well beyond the call of duty to ensure that the line was ready to go the day I moved in. Amazing.

Speaking of Call of Duty, gaming was one of the two main reasons why I initially chose IDNet in the first place after hearing tonnes of rave reviews regarding their low pings. Back in 2004/05 my pings to my favourite servers were around 15-17ms - yes REALLY that good. I did actually feel that being on IDNet gave me a massive advantage over everyone. Even now, despite IDNet undoubtedly having a much larger customer base my pings are still <30ms to the very same servers. Still much better than most of my online friends.

I've been through some of the problems that other posts i've been reading have described, so don't go thinking I'm in a dreamworld here, but I just felt it necessary to restore some balance to these forums and let people know that IDNet ARE a GOOD ISP.

If only people were as quick to praise as they are to complain. I myself being a prime example - only showing my appreciation after 4 years of service.

Thank you IDNet and sorry it took so long to say it.

Well said! having been with IDNet myself for over three years I would agree with your comments.

Neighbours of mine get nothing like the speed and service that I get on my small exchange that has not been, and probably never will be, unbundled.

Wow Cav will be worried he has a challenger for Fanboy of the week. grin

Joking apart I have also been with IDNet for more than 3 possibly 4 years and have had problems in the past mainly with pings, (not always IDNets fault I must add) I've always found any problems have been sorted quickly and I've never been tempted to leave due to bad service.

I was watching watchdog tonight and the fact that Idnet managed to pass on the vat decrease so quickly shows their utter dedication to their customers.

I say this because a much larger company(Orange) couldn't work it out for a number of months and decided to "donate" the cuts to charity.

This shows that Idnet are the best isp in the world, (those beer people might be on the lookout for such a company) smile

Now Fanboy 1a. wink

It's good to see that there are people here with plenty of good things to say about Idnet.

It is however a shame that the rest of IDNet's customer base who are totally unaware of this forum and are blissfully enjoying their IDNet service (like me) will probably never put their opinion across.

In a way i guess being an ISP must be a thankless job. You give your customers a service and probably never hear from them again until there are problems frown

I agree with your comments, in particular I had a similar good experience on moving house two years ago, when an expensive mistake by the letting agents - who gave the wrong advance details for the BT line connection - had to be sorted; 'beyond the call of duty' applies here too.

Hiya,
Thought I'd stand up and be counted...as they say.
I joined IDNet last July. My transition from SupaNet to IDNet was silky smooth and other than having a misbehaving router and the January latency issues (which is well documented) my experience has been extremely positive.
I now have a better synch speed and latency (mostly under 20ms) than I ever used to have, and Customer service has been prompt (very) and very knowledgeable.
All in all...I'm a v.happy IDNet customer and currently have NO intention of moving to another ISP.

Thankyou IDNet.

I can't remember how long I've been with IDNet... but it was when PlusNet bought out MetroNet, I took one look at the Plusnet forum here and decided I was off tongue.

(I should add that PlusNet have improved no end since then.)

IDNet aren't perfect, but I think you only have to look at the comparative triviality of most of the complaints in this forum as opposed to some others to get a good idea what they're like.

Maybe... but they've got a long way to go to get to where they used to be!

Hi everyone.

I am just coming up to my first year with IDnet and although Im rather new to all of this.I started my life on the web with AOL,then went to Tiscali then after a few, speed issues decided, after a lot of research to try IDnet,I was influenced by all things a mention of this Broadband provider on a cosumer programme and this finally made my mind up and it has proved to be one of my better decisions in life.speeds have been excellent and the support is, imho second to none, although I have not had to call them very often, in fact I think its is about 5 times and I think only a couple of these were to do with a service issue.
I love the personal touch there, knowing the staff on first name terms,no scripts just real old fashioned service.
I cannot state they are the best as I have not tried them all and as I near the first anniversay of my being a user of this service provider I hope to be reiterating this sentiment next year.
All I want is to get what I pay for nothing more nothing less.IDnet put themselves out to be the best and for me they are and for that I am grateful for almost stumbling over them.
There has been issues, but they have been resolved with imo speed and in the corrrect manner.
So no need to say where I hope I will be in 12 months.

Thank you IDnet for the most impotant thing in my choice."Honesty" both in your adverts and the way you treat your customers what you state you provide.I cant expect anything more but I certainly do not recieve less.

Things Change

I've been a long time lurker to these forums but this thread made me join up!

I've also been on IDNET broadband for several years and at several different properties.

My experience has been nothing short of superb frankly. Yes I've experienced a small ping disruption recently as others have, but the good far outweighs the small amount of bad.

The customer service from IDNET is first class. I would go as far to say it is the best I have ever received from any company. Period. The guys at IDNET are friendly, knowledgable and most of all: they actually care about your issue. I've left a message at 9PM on a Sunday and had a personal call (from Simon, what a nice bloke), in under 2 minutes. Not only did he fully inform me of the problem he then resolved it. Try getting that sort of customer service from BT!

My speeds on my appalling BT line are pretty damn good and speaking to my neighbours, they are certainly faster than theirs by a good margin. I have pings of 8-12ms to most decent UK gaming servers and lag is non-existent.

It makes me a little sad to see people getting on top of IDNET for some hiccups that aren't even all their fault. I very much doubt that IDNET were discourteous to any customers and would be anything but helpful.

Either way, I'm a happy IDNET customer and will be for some time to come smile

Thanks
