IDNet very slow again

[link to this post]

We have been experiencing a very slow connection today. Any chance IDNet can sort things out? We are only 100 yards from the local exchange (EABRI) and our line has been repeatedly tested as OK. Is there any way IDNet could provide packages that can bypass BTs bottlenecks?

Hi Juergen

We are not experiencing any problems at our end. As discussed previously it appears that your Exchange is congested. I'm afraid that we are unable to route your circuit around that.

Maybe once BT have upgraded your Exchange to 21CN you may see an improvement but there is not yet a date set by BT for that upgrade.

Regards
Simon

According to samknows the 21CN PSTN switchover target is Q1 2011. That means, at least for the next two years broadband will continue here at crawling speeds. Can IDNet offer any BT-based broadband services which are more reliable and faster? Or even better, will IDNet one day offer LLU or any other non-BT based broadband packages?

According to the current status report for Brightlingsea there isn't any congestion.

The PSTN switchover is different and separate from the WBC enablement which is what will bring ADSL2+ to your Exchange.

You do have an option and one which may well get you onto a different VP. I'll email you.

So that means no ADSL2+ ever, nor SDSL, nor LLU, let alone a FTTP in the next few years to come? How can people run an office in the UK with no normal affordable telecom services?

Anyway, got your e-mail, might give the 8Mbps / 448Mbps rate adaptive ADSL product (£24.46 per month) a try.

Will a rate-adaptive as opposed to a fixed-speed ADSL work with a dual-WAN load-balancing router which really requires a non-fluctuating line speed? I am a bit unsure about BT's IP Profile technology and its lengthy training periods, a stable speed and good reliablilty are very important to us.
