Central Outage

[link to this post]

One of our BT Centrals had a brief outage last night just after midnight which bounced all traffic onto our other Centrals. We are now busy rebalancing our network which may take up to a couple of days to complete. In the meantime, some users may experience slower speeds than normal especially during peak periods. Rebooting your router/modem should move you to another Central and improve your speed. If this doesn't fix the issue please contact Support.

We are also aware of a small number of users who have incorrect throughput speeds in relation to their profiles connecting to ADSL2+. We are escalating these cases with BT and hope to have a resolution very soon.

Interesting. I thought things were a tad slow yesterday. (Well, slow by IDNet standards!)

Our connection has been slow for the past 2 days.

Why doesn't IDnet deploy any failover or reduncy solutions? A single BT Central failure should not slow down the network traffic. So what is really going wrong here?

Basicly the central went out of service, chucked everyone onto the working centrals and then once the other was back in service its a case of people reconnecting back over. Not hard to fathem out!

In reply to your other question, it would cost far too much I believe.

You'd have to ask IDNet.
